ARIES project results in funding for climate change adaptation
professional education

View the Minister's announcement made on 3 October 2007

The Australian Government Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Malcolm Turnbull, recently announced a $2 million grants program to facilitate the integration of climate change adaptation into education and training for professionals. The grants of up to $150,000 each will be available to professional associations and training organizations. This funding commitment, targeted at the improvement of education for climate change adaptation, is a direct result of the recent ARIES project that worked with professional institutions in the built-environment sector to identify key issues and opportunities for embedding education for climate change adaptation into accredited professional tertiary courses and professional development programs. A report outlining the findings, outcomes and recommendations of this project will soon be available to download on the ARIES website, while more information on the grants program is available on the Australian Greenhouse Office website at www.greenhouse.gov.au/impacts/about.html.
