The Australian Government is well positioned to respond to the DESD with a range of relevant national initiatives already under way. The DESD represents an opportunity to further advance the goals outlined in the Australian Government's National Action Plan - Environmental Education for a Sustainable Future - including raising awareness of environmental education; encouraging cooperation between organisations in Australia and internationally; building the capacity of community groups, State and Territory governments and industry groups involved in environmental education; and generally assisting in the achievement of sustainable development in Australia.

The US Partnership consists of individuals, organizations and institutions in the United States dedicated to education for sustainable development (ESD). The partnership was formed as a response to the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development

US Partnership for DESD

The USPDESD is an inclusive, non-partisan, non-affiliated partnership of representatives from all sectors - higher education, K-12, business, faith communities, non-profits, government - serving to:

bring together individuals and organisations already working or interested in working with education for sustainable development;
connect needs with resources, helping partners develop new projects and build on their existing programs; and
communicate about the Decade and advocates for the Decade, while linking existing networks and facilitating new ones across sectors and across the country
